Gunmen Kill Trader, Several Shoppers Wounded During Mall Raid


One trader was shot dead while several other shoppers sustained bullet wounds Friday night during an attack on a shopping mall in the Polo District of Maiduguri, Borno State.

The gunmen suspected to be belong to the Islamic terrorist sect Boko Haram, struck at about 7.pm local time, during Friday’s Magrib prayers.

A security operative who opted to remain anonymous told us that the gunmen strolled into the mall pretending to be shoppers and went straight to the trader’s stall and shot him severally, and started shooting indiscriminately before fleeing into the night on foot.

The identity of the slain trader was not known as at the time of the writing this report.

The spokesman of the JTF, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa was unreachable as at press time when we called his phones.
